Just a bit more than a month before the UN General Assembly once again speaks out against the economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba, a crime perpetuated by the United States, voices are being raised condemning this genocide.

First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, thanked his South African counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa, for his permanent solidarity in the struggle against the blockade.

Díaz-Canel also tweeted a message expressing gratitude to the Executive Committee of the African National Congress for its support in this battle.

With regard to the cruel U.S. policy, Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, in a joint press conference with the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Gutérres, recalled that the General Assembly votes annually "by an overwhelming majority" in favor of a resolution calling on the U.S. government to lift the blockade, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.

China also demanded an end to the blockade which is currently hampering the development and production of anti-COVID vaccines. TeleSUR reports that Beijing's position was reiterated by Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman, Hua Chunying, who criticized Washington which claims to be a defender of constitutional guarantees, while escalating punitive sanctions against Cuba, regardless of the pandemic’s impact on the entire planet.
